Description

Updated June 2022: The course provides practical and research-based strategies for interactions with individuals with communication disabilities or difficulties you will encounter in your position as an Ohio peace officer. Modules cover strategies for interacting with individuals who have the following diagnoses that affect communication: Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Disability, Deaf/hard of hearing, and speech and language disorders. You will also learn the connections with Ohio-based law for interacting with individuals with communication disabilities. Completing this course earns you 1.5 credits (hours).

This module explains the course objectives and navigation. This course includes nine modules: 1) the CPT Acknowledgment Form, 2) an introduction, 3-8) the main course, and 9) an optional survey.
