Courses
2 credits | This course provides strategies for both law enforcement individuals and agencies to continue influencing and building upon a favorable image with their communities. It is designed to increase knowledge, enhance self-awareness, and strengthen the skills of law enforcement officers who work both directly and indirectly with different cultures. 
This course presents issues and suggestions about conducting and tailoring a basic investigative interview based on the age, maturity, and needs of the crime victim.
This video training will provide an overview of what to expect when a law enforcement agency requests BCI handle the investigation of an officer involved critical incident. Completing this course earns you 1 credit (hour).
This course is designed for the law enforcement officer that has successfully completed the 40 basic Clandestine Lab Certification Course. This annual clandestine drug lab refresher training program complies with Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 29 §1910.120(q). You must complete all 7 modules to receive the (1) certificate for the Clandestine Drug Lab Recertification/Refresher.
Updated June 2022: The course provides practical and research-based strategies for interactions with individuals with communication disabilities or difficulties you will encounter in your position as an Ohio peace officer. You will also learn the connections with Ohio-based law for interacting with individuals with communication disabilities. Completing this course earns you 1.5 credits (hours).
Updated June 2022: This course describes persons in crisis and the complexities of interacting with these individuals with effective communication techniques. Completing this course earns you 2.5 credits (hours).

This course is a combination of best practices from leading school-safety experts, including the U.S. Secret Service National Threat Assessment Center. Ensuring the safety of Ohio’s schools encompasses multiple components, including: • Physical security • Emergency management • Violence prevention in the form of a threat assessment process
This course assists officers in writing, obtaining, and executing search warrants. It provides officers with pertinent search warrant case law and essential information in drafting search warrant affidavits. In addition to detailing the parts of a search warrant, the course explains probable cause and provides examples of how to describe locations, items, and persons to be searched and seized. *Please note that this course contains no audio.*
This course provides information and guidance necessary to help understand how trauma affects us and what can be done about it. As law enforcement officers, the trauma we see every day undoubtedly affects us. Completing this course earns you 1 credit (hour).
